The requirements for certification as a reading teacher are that the applicant shall:

A. Meet the requirements for certification in early childhood education, elementary education, or a secondary education area;

B. Have 12 semester hours of post-baccalaureate graduate credit from an IHE in reading, including a foundation or survey course and a course in diagnosis and correction of reading difficulties; and

C. Have 2 years of successful teaching experience.
