Procedures: Reject Vehicle If: A. Passenger Hand Hold Device.
If a passenger is to be transported, a properly attached hand hold device shall be provided on the motorcycle and shall be of sufficient strength and size to provide adequate support to any passenger. A strap or bar device is acceptable.A. When a passenger can be transported and a hand hold is not present. B. Foot Rest Assemblies. For each designated seating position or if a passenger is to be transported, the motorcycle shall be equipped with a foot rest assembly on each side of the motorcycle. Passenger foot rests may be retractable or permanent. However, 1975 or newer shall be retractable. B.(1) When a passenger can be transported and foot rests are not present.
(2) Passenger foot rests are permanently attached and extend more than 1 inch beyond the widest part of the motorcycle excluding handlebars.
(3) 1975 or new motorcycle is not equipped with retractable passenger foot rests.
