    C. Controls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers (CSD-1) (American Society of Mechanical Engineers).

    (1) The requirements of ASME CSD-1 in effect at the time a boiler is installed apply to:

    (a) Power boilers regardless of fuel input;

    (b) Other boilers with a fuel input of greater than 2,500,000 Btu per hour and less than 12,500,000 Btu per hour; and

    (c) Other boilers with a fuel input of 2,500,000 Btu per hour or less, except that Section CF of CSD-1 does not apply to these boilers.

    (2) The following are exempt from the requirements of ASME CSD-1:

    (a) Water heaters stamped either "h" or "hlw" and used as potable water heaters, if the water temperature is less than 210°F and the water pressure is less than 160 PSIG;

    (b) Miniature boilers, except as required in Regulation .37 of this chapter;

    (c) Kitchen equipment boilers, except as required in Regulation .38 of this chapter; and

    (d) Historical boilers.
