Sec. 09.10.01.82. Bingo Bet

Latest version.
  • A. The Bingo Bet is a type of bet in which betting interests are selected and placed in a total of nine blocks, arranged in three columns with three blocks in each column thereby forming a square.

    B. For the columns described under §A of this regulation, the totalisator company shall assign to each block in column:

    (1) One, the number of a betting interest selected to finish first;

    (2) Two, the number of a betting interest selected to finish first or second, except that the center block of this column shall be assigned the number of the betting interest that actually finishes first in the race; and

    (3) Three, the number of a betting interest selected to finish first, second, or third.

    C. Repealed.

    D. A bettor wishing to participate in this type of bet may:

    (1) Select a single betting interest to be placed randomly by the totalisator computer in any one block in the bet, except the center block in column two, and allow the totalisator computer to randomly assign the numbers of the betting interests to the other seven blocks in the bet; or

    (2) Allow the totalisator computer to randomly assign the numbers of the betting interests to all of the blocks, except the center block in column two.

    E. A winning combination consists of three contiguous blocks forming a straight line, either diagonally, vertically, or horizontally, containing the betting interests which finished in the position selected, or higher, in accordance with the official order of finish.

    F. A single bet may contain as many as eight winning combinations.

    G. The totalisator company shall divide the net pool on this type of bet by the total number of winning combinations with the resulting quotient, rounded down to the nearest whole multiple of 10 cents, being the payoff on each winning combination.

    H. The payoff on a winning combination, as calculated under §G of this regulation, may not be less than 10 cents.

    I. If there is a dead heat for first, second, or third place in a race on which a Bingo Bet is offered, the totalisator company shall consider the numbers assigned to the betting interests involved in the dead heat as finishing in the position for which there was a dead heat.

    J. If more than one horse in an entry or field finishes in one or more of the first three positions in the race, the totalisator company shall use one or more of the horses, as necessary, finishing directly after the first three horses until there are three different betting interests to represent the first three positions at the finish of the race for the purposes of this bet.

    K. If a betting interest is scratched, excused, or determined by the stewards to be nonstarter, the totalisator company shall substitute the:

    (1) Actual favorite, as evidenced by the amounts bet in the win pool when betting on the race is closed, for that betting interest; or

    (2) Favorite with the lowest program number for that betting interest if the amount bet in the win pool is identical on two or more favorites when betting on the race is closed.

    L. If fewer than three betting interests in a race offering the Bingo Bet finish the race, the stewards shall order a refund of the entire pool for that bet in that race.

    M. If, after considering the other provisions of this regulation, there is no winning selection on the Bingo Bet, the racing association shall carry forward the entire net pool from the Bingo Bet and add it to the net pool of the Bingo Bet on the next race for which it is offered.
